‘Songs of Perception’ Performance in NYC

My work Songs of Perception will be performed on May 17 as part of the Queens New Music Festival.  The work is for soprano and string quartet and all three movements are adaptations of poems by the wonderful Laura Kasischke.

I originally set these poems as part of a collaboration with Poetry Magazine many years ago.  I read through hundreds of poems and published in this incredible magazine over the years but was completely captivated by Laura’s work.

The piece was originally premiered at the Poetry Foundation Center in Chicago and I’m really excited to hear it again.
