Useless Machines for Thinking, Dreaming, Feeling

The first movement of my new piece Useless Machines for Thinking, Dreaming, Feeling will be performed on September 15 as part of Concept Lab, the series I produce in New York.

The piece is inspired by an exhibit at the Bronx Museum of Art. Each movement will consist of separate parts. There will be no score, each player will have a part that is independent from the others and yet meant to work together as a whole.

I’m planning to write several more movements as soon as I finish work on La Jeteé.

The picture is the specific machine that inspired this movement. It’s called Blue Angel.
